Florida Panther Conservation Organizations
Conservation organizations are playing a vital role in preserving and protecting the Florida panther, a critically endangered subspecies of cougar found primarily in South Florida. These groups focus on habitat restoration and protection, as the panther’s survival depends heavily on large, connected areas of suitable habitat.
They acquire land, restore wetlands, and create wildlife crossings to make sure the Florida panthers have safe spaces to roam, hunt, and breed.
Another key effort involves Florida Panther research and monitoring to better understand panther behavior, health, and population dynamics (the study of how and why a population changes over time).
Public education and community engagement are also central to conservation strategies.

At the Center for Biological Diversity, we believe that the welfare of human beings is deeply linked to nature — to the existence in our world of a vast diversity of wild animals and plants.
Because diversity has intrinsic value, and because its loss impoverishes society, we work to secure a future for all species, great and small, hovering on the brink of extinction. We do so through science, law and creative media, with a focus on protecting the lands, waters and climate that species need to survive.
